CMP support in scripts

After this deployment gemiusDirectEffect scripts will support Consent Management Platforms which are compatible with IAB Europe's GDPR Transparency & Consent Framework (http://advertisingconsent.eu/).

Async Display scripts

Following new parameters will be available:

  • data-cmp - If set to true the script will check whether an IAB-compliant CMP is available.
  • data-gdpr-consent - Passes information about the user consent string.

When the gDE asynchronous display script is put directly on the publisher's website, the consent string is checked by gDE asynchronous display scripts automatically, so if you already use an IAB-compliant CMP, gemiusDirectEffect takes the consent string into account. If you use a CMP that is not compatible with the IAB Framework or you want to overwrite the CMP settings, you can use gdpr and gdpr_consent configuration variables.

Note: if data-cmp parameter is set to data-cmp=true and an IAB-compliant CMP is not available at the publisher's website, then such user will be considered as non-cookie.


Example of asynchronous display script

If the gDE asynchronous display script is used in any external adserver and an IAB-compliant CMP is not available directly, then data-cmp parameter needs to be set to data-cmp=false and proper consent string needs to be passed to the data-gdpr-consent parameter.

Note: Please be informed that by default the data-cmp parameter is set to data-cmp=false.

Synchronous display scripts, XML Display scripts, click tracking and IMG impression tracking scripts

Following new parameters will be available:

  • gdpr - If set to 1 the consent string will be taken into consideration.
  • gdpr_consent - Passes information about the consent string.

If the gdpr parameter is set to gdpr=1, the consent string always needs to be passed manually so it can be taken into consideration.

Note: Please be informed that by default the gdpr parameter is set to gdpr=0.

JS impression tracking scripts

Following new parameters will be available:

  • cmp - If set to true the script will check whether the IAB-compliant CMP is available.
  • gdpr_consent - Passes information about the consent string.

Note: if cmp parameter is set to true and IAB-compliant CMP is not available at the publisher's website, then such user will be considered as non-cookie.

If the gDE JS impression tracking script is used in any external adserver and a CMP library is not present, then cmp parameter needs to be set to cmp=false and proper consent string needs to be passed to the gdpr_consent parameter.

Note: Please be informed that by default the cmp parameter is set to false.

New creative macros

Following macros can be used to pass proper parameters in the gDE synchronous and XML display scripts:

  • <%%GDPR_APPLIES%%> - Can be used to check whether provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) apply to the user; expands to value 1 if the Regulation applies to the user or value 0 if it does not.
  • <%%GDPR_CONSENT%%> - expands to the value of the consent string.

Changes in ad format - Responsive billboard

In addition, this week we introduce new functionality to the Responsive billboard [N] [ASYNC]:

  • Clicktag overlay - Displays an overlay over the frame with the HTML5 creative and, as a result, clicks within that frame open the landing page without passing events to the frame.

New ad format - Media room

This week we also give you a new ad format which looks like a banner with a carousel of boxes inside, that will allow to change your advertisement into moving gallery.

The Media Room [N] ad template will allow to set up to 12 elements (images or videos) swinging on a carousel on a background of your choice. The user will have a possibility to browse the gallery by clicking on the arrows or dragging the whole panel around. Check it out for the whole range of possibilities it gives.
